Meet Joakim Warholm - new member of the data team!

"I am a fresh out of university junior machine learning engineer, who loves to learn about the world around me in many different ways," says Joakim.

What is your role here at Kobler?

I am a junior machine learning engineer who works with Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Tell us about your background?

I have a bachelor in physics, and a masters in machine learning. Being an ML engineer at Kobler is my first job out of university.

What drew you to Kobler?

The contextual approach to advertising which I had never heard of before I found out about Kobler, sounded to me like a much healthier way to do advertising. On top of that, this approach to advertising was a great opportunity for me to apply my skills within NLP, since understanding text is core to contextual advertising.

What are you working on?

I work on creating intelligent systems that help our customers place their ads in the right context.

What is the most challenging part of your work?

Working with text from different languages. Each language has its own set of challenges, and the tools that are available for one language are not necessarily available for another.

What/who inspires you?

Progress and big ideas inspire me, and I like thinking about what the future might look like. The progress that has been made in machine learning and natural language processing in the past few years is very exciting!
